Complete Guide to the Best Things to Do in Johor Bahru
Johor Bahru, a city of Malaysia, is endowed with vibrant markets, sight-seeing attractions, and magnificent sites to attract diverse types of travelers. Also, without any doubt, there are a number of things to do in Johor Bahru.
Whether you wish to taste authentic local food, find something special in shops, or just appreciate more and more different kinds of natural attractions. Johor Bahru is always ready to welcome you and to offer you an amazing journey. Here are some of the must things to do in Johor Bahru:
Brunch at Kopilicious
After eating at many restaurants and Coffee shops in Malaysia, my most preferred place for breakfast and brunch is Kopilicious. It has two outlets in JB. Their iced coffee is popularly known as cold coffee. It is retailing at 3.50 RM and deserves a try once. If you have not tasted Kopilicious, you had better taste it during your next vacation. I promise it’s worth it.
Discover Mount Austin: One of the Best Things to Do in Johor Bahru
If you are into animals, grab some brunch afterwards and visit Shiba Cafe in Mount Austin. As for the pricing, you’ll be expected to shell out approximately 20RM per hour of doggy time and this includes a beverage. It operates from 3 pm to 4 pm in the evening. We had fun with all types of dogs from huskies, shiba inu toy poodles and many more.
For those who don’t really like dog cafes, you can also get a manicure at Sasa Nails House or SING V KTV at very cheap prices, both of which are located close to the dog cafe. I recall having my french gel manicure and pedicure brought at about $60 and this stayed perfect for months without chips.
You’ll also find another even better, bigger mall in the Austin area known as AEON Tebrau, about a 10 minutes’ drive from here, which connects with Toppen Mall and IKEA. It is basically a shopping heaven. It covers movies, food, fashion, groceries. The best forever, anything you desire is somewhere in this mall.
Danga Bay
Hey! classic fans of theme parks, this is for you. Many times I’ve visited that place and even enjoyed every ride they have there despite the fact that they are mini souvenirs, yet. Honestly though, you should check it out. This is where you will need to be heading for after all the shops and malls here have closed down for the night.
When the sun is set, common people can witness a group of local families gathered at Danga Bay spending their leisure time riding scooters, buying LED balloons, riding carriages, etc for their kids. You have to think of it as a night market as well as a theme park. It usually opens until at least 12am.
Food of Danga Bay is over hyped
As for the dinner I would not suggest it because the restaurants there are not cheap. It is just a group of Chinese restaurants offering seafood by weight. However, there is a variety of donuts, drinks, and other foods sold by individual stalls that are relatively cheap.
Okay, on the one hand, there are no entrance fees, but you have to pay for the attractions. The fare per ride is 15 RM. And this is okay for us for an hour of fun in each ride.
It’s an old theme park really and from one part of the track it was as though one was looking down upon a vast metal scrap yard. It’ll simply be terrible to dream what could happen if one of the riders slipped and fell out of the ride.
Enjoy the Sun at Desaru Beach
This beach comes with silky sand and warm clear blue water. There are also water sports on offer. Do some really fun and cool activities like jet skiing, banana boat rides or snorkeling. Moreover, there is a variety of seafood available there for seafood lovers.
Take Massage Services
While visiting Johor Bahru can we afford to leave out the option of a massage? Obviously not! Because taking massage services is surely one of the best things to do in Johor Bahru. Consequently, I rushed to Bangkok Family Spa to relax some muscles after dancing my heart out.
Many people from Singapore like to visit Bangkok Spa. It’s very hygienic and free from any noise, including the ticking of a clock, a thing that bothers many spa-goers. Also, if you come alone for the aromatherapy massage, you may get a room with the door instead of the curtain.
Usually I always choose two hours of their Aromatherapy Massage because oil is the best. Just get some food and drinks, relax then when done ask the spa’s van to drop you at the hotel which they provide for free.
Once you are done with the spa, come out and you are going to find a boy with his band right next door playing Chinese EDM music. Sometimes it is there, sometimes it is removed based on the owner’s mood possibly. But 80% of the time I find myself going to the spa that is always open.
Visit Tanjong Puteri Golf Resort
If golf is your game then don’t waste time in thinking what to do in JB. Head directly to Tanjung Puteri Golf Resort. A resort with picturesque views and golf courses. Come spend a day playing golf. Also, there are a number of restaurants where you can dine after the golf match. This is an expert and beginners kind of spot.
